Systemic problems in the way food is ordered and handled are difficult to fix even with the latest automated inventory systems. SMall amounts of repeat waste can add up.
The best way to fix a systematic problem like this is to fix it at source. One retail store in Finland, Kauppavalmennus Ltd., used a digital application to analyse and remedy a persistent food waste issue.

Finnish engineering SME Kaso performs welding, painting and energy-intensive jobs using pneumatic tools. At the beginning of 2018, the company carried out an energy audit following a new two-step model for industrial SMEs. The audit revealed new targets for energy saving.
This audit model is developed for industrial SMEs to lower the threshold for auditing. A two-step energy review is primarily intended for SMEs in which the process of energy use and efficiency of the process is not considered necessary. The model is cost-efficient for the clients and for the energy auditors.
